Hello Friends,
Each and every one of you is amazing! We fully funded in under an hour. We can’t even begin to put our thanks into words, well we say that but this update wouldn’t be here if we didn’t at least try so here goes nothing! Thank you to everyone who has backed the project thus far and thank you to everyone who will back throughout this roller coaster of a Kickstarter we have planned! We have all kinds of stretch goals and social challenges planned so buckle up because this thing doesn’t come with brakes.
Steve Gabry as well as Beneeta Kaur and Dustin from The Maestro Team will be hosting a livestream tonight at 6 pm Eastern (3 pm Pacific, 12 am CEST, 2300 GMT) on Beneeta’s Twitch Channel. We’ll be doing it Town Hall style, come on over and ask your question in the chat, and maybe we’ll answer it! And join us every Tuesday at 5 or 6 pm Eastern (2200 or 2300 GMT) during the Kickstarter (on a bunch of different platforms we’ll announce later) for even more Q&A action with the man himself, Steve Gabry.
We have to get back to the lab to ensure everything is ready when we introduce our first wave of Stretch and Social Goals. In the meantime, listed below are some of the most commonly asked questions we see, and as always if you don’t see your question here, check the Kickstarter FAQ and we will be here in the comments to help!
I can’t see any Add-ons.
The add-on section is near the bottom of the campaign page. You can add money for the add-ons in Kickstarter as “bonus money.” By doing it in the Kickstarter you help propel the Kickstarter closer to the Stretch Goals, which helps everyone! The add-ons will also be available in the BackerKit pledge manager which launches after the Kickstarter campaign ends.
I Pre-committed, how do I know if I got the Bonus Cards?
You’ll see those cards (and the standee) in the Backerkit once the Kickstarter is over. Please make sure you used the same email to pre-commit as you did in Kickstarter. (If you didn’t, we can do nothing until the Backerkit opens, so don’t sweat it until then!)
I want to buy several tiers, how can I do that?
Kickstarter will only allow one level pledge per account but you can add most of the items as add-ons by adding money to your pledge. You can see the available add-ons near the bottom of our campaign. And don’t worry, if you backed the Kickstarter, the pricing for additional tiers will be the same in Backerkit as it is here. Just make sure you wait until you receive your private link in an email, don’t follow social media or website links to the “pre-order store” that’s only for people who missed the Kickstarter.
Is shipping included in the cost of the tier?
We will charge for shipping after the Kickstarter ends in our Pledge Manager, Backerkit. The costs will be based on the weight of your order and destination ensuring each backer pays the least amount possible to ship.
We have shipping hubs located in the US, CA, UK, EU, CN, and AU as a further means to reduce shipping costs. You can take a look at our estimated shipping rates for a few tiers on the Campaign page, near the bottom.
If you want to add bonus support now to cover the estimated shipping costs, it helps everyone reach the next Stretch Goal (coming soon) faster!
For EU Backers is VAT included in the shipping cost?
VAT is not included in the shipping cost and since VAT percentages are different in each country, we aren’t able to provide a simple table. Shipping and VAT will be calculated and charged in BackerKit. If you are a retailer, we will be charging VAT for your order in Backerkit, please keep that in mind when ordering.

As the title says, welcome one and all to the Sally Face: Strange Nightmares Kickstarter campaign! We have all kinds of fun stretch goals, social challenges, bonus cards, AMAs and livestreams with Steve and the team, and so much more! Everyone on the Maestro Media team are huge fans of the game so to see years of hard work finally coming to fruition is incredible! Steve Gabry and ourselves cannot wait to share this next month with you and I hope you are all just as excited as we are! And we're already a Kickstarter Project We Love! Thanks for your support in making that possible so quickly!
How Does Kickstarter Work?
For those of you who are new to Kickstarter, don’t worry, we have done this before! The way this works is that a project creator (Steve Gabry & Maestro Media) has an idea for a cool project. We need to raise funds to execute our vision. To do this, we put it up on Kickstarter to crowdfund the project. Pledge tiers are available to back the project with. These tiers have rewards that you will receive based on which tier you pick! The money gathered from backers and their selected tiers (you guys!) is then pooled into a total on the Kickstarter page. The project becomes successfully funded when that total reaches the pledge goal on the page. In this case, our goal is $25,000.
We can also go above and beyond said goal, allowing us to produce bonus content for the game. The way that works is, as we print more copies of the game at the factory, our cost per copy goes down, so we can add more cool stuff at the same cost. These extra milestones are called stretch goals and we have many planned for you guys to reach! We will introduce these in the update coming in the next 24 hours so keep your eyes peeled!
After the campaign ends, we take that money to produce and print the game and merch. In exchange for your support, you receive the pledge you backed! It’s a win-win for everyone involved!
What is a Pledge Manager?
There is also something called Backerkit. Backerkit is a pledge manager we use that lets you manage important aspects of your pledge like adding and paying for extra add-ons and taxes/duties to your order after the Kickstarter ends, telling us where to ship your goods, and more! It is typically opened a few weeks after the Kickstarter ends and remains open for quite some time before officially closing so production can begin.
It’s probably good to note that there will be two different “Backerkit Stores.” Anyone who backed during the Kickstarter campaign will have a Kickstarter store, which includes exclusive, discounted, pricing. And a second pre-order store that will open up for anyone who missed the Kickstarter. Both stores will run concurrently, and Kickstarter backers will receive an email about 6-8 weeks post Kickstarter with a private link to their exclusive store.
What Happens After the Kickstarter?
After that, we play the waiting game a bit. When the Kickstarter ends, we will be finalizing the art and graphic design for the game, work with the factory on game box design so everything fits nicely, deliver finished files to the factory, get the game manufactured, assemble the games, and freight ship to the fulfillment centers before the games can ship to you. It’s a long process and we’ll be sending updates out as we clear each stage. For this project, we plan to deliver the game in JUNE 2024. With all manufacturing projects there are delays, we have planned for all the known issues (war/conflict, COVID-19 outbreaks, cordyceps, etc) that have plagued manufacturing the past few years, but there can always be something unexpected. Don’t worry, as soon as we know, and know the impact, we will pass the information along to you. We will always keep you well-informed every step of the way with at least one update a month!
